Uzbek president pardons 852 convicts

In connection with the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, celebrated on September 1, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has pardoned 852 convicted individuals, Report informs, citing Uzbekistani media.
Of these, 604 people were fully released from serving their sentences, while 115 received conditional early release. Sentences were commuted to lighter penalties for 52 individuals, and prison terms were reduced for 81 people.
Among those pardoned are 7 foreign nationals, 49 women, 37 men over the age of 60, as many as 375 young people, and 63 individuals convicted of participating in the activities of banned organizations.
