Seven injured in Istanbul building collapse - UPDATED

Seven people were rescued and hospitalized after two buildings collapsed in Istanbul's Fatih district following an explosion, reportedly caused by a natural gas leak.

According to Report, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül told TRT Haber that search efforts continue for one more person, while rescue operations for another victim are nearly complete.

Gül inspected the site on Ebe Street in the Ayvansaray neighborhood, where the explosion occurred, and received briefings from emergency services.

"According to preliminary data, nine people were trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations began immediately with the participation of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the fire department, the Fatih municipality, police, and other agencies. Seven people have been taken to the hospital so far," Gül said.

Two buildings collapsed in the Fatih district of Istanbul, Türkiye, Report informs.

According to local media, five people were trapped under the debris, three of whom have been rescued.

The incident is thought to have been caused by a gas explosion.
