Türkiye, US seek lifting of CAATSA sanctions, FM FIdan says

Türkiye and the United States are committed to lifting sanctions imposed under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.

Speaking in an interview with CNN Türk, Fidan said both countries and their leaders support removing the sanctions.

"Both countries and both leaders want this issue to be resolved. There is a process that needs to be completed to make it happen. We are currently carrying out the responsibilities assigned to the Turkish and US sides, and the decision has already been made," he said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that he would attend the alliance's summit in Ankara on July 7–8 with "something that will please Türkiye."
