Türkiye and Romania seek to strengthen bilateral relations

Presidents of Türkiye and Romania Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nicușor Dan held a meeting in Istanbul.

According to a statement by the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate on X, cited by Report, the leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.

President Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye attaches great importance to cooperation between the two countries in many areas, particularly trade, defense, and security, and will continue taking steps to further develop bilateral ties.

He also underlined the importance of close cooperation between Türkiye and Romania on issues related to maintaining security in the Black Sea region.

"Türkiye is carrying out careful work in coordination with the littoral states to ensure and maintain security in the Black Sea," the statement said.

President Erdoğan also noted that Türkiye is making intensive efforts to achieve progress toward a settlement of the Russia–Ukraine conflict.
