Turkish Deputy Minister: Resilient cities go beyond strong buildings

A resilient city is not merely a city of strong buildings, Hasan Suver, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of Türkiye, said during a conference held within the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

The deputy minister pointed out that Türkiye, due to its geographic location, faces multiple natural disaster risks, especially earthquakes:

"Our urban planning policy focuses not only on growth and development but also on safety, resilience, risk reduction, and disaster preparedness. For us, a resilient city is not just about strong buildings. It is a city that can withstand crises through its infrastructure, transport system, green spaces, social facilities, economic life, and social solidarity."
