Tunnel under construction collapses in Türkiye, killing one, injuring another

A tunnel being built for a drinking water supply system collapsed in Adana, Türkiye, killing one worker who was trapped under the rubble.

According to Report, which cites TRT Haber, the incident occurred in the İmamoğlu district at a section of the tunnel being constructed as part of a drinking water supply project. The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.

Five employees of the contractor were inside the tunnel at the time of the incident. Ambulance crews, gendarmerie, firefighters and AFAD rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.

A 55-year-old man was killed, while the other four workers were rescued from the rubble. One of them sustained injuries.

Administrative and judicial investigations have been launched into the incident. If any violations are identified, the prosecutor"s office and other competent authorities will investigate them.
