Projects such as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) will increase economic opportunities and security in the region, Georgian political figure and political analyst Vato Shakarishvili has said.
Speaking to Report's Georgia bureau, Shakarishvili, executive secretary of the United Neutral Georgia party, said Azerbaijan and Georgia are interested in the safe and rapid development of the transport routes forming the Middle Corridor.
According to him, the emergence of new transport projects such as TRIPP will not only expand economic opportunities but also contribute to greater security and increase the region's global significance.
"We welcome the emergence of new routes in the region, such as projects like TRIPP. This means more economic opportunities and more security, and overall increases the region's role and importance globally. Connectivity is one of the main challenges facing the world today," Shakarishvili said.
He noted that Azerbaijan is one of the largest investors in Georgia's transit infrastructure.
"Azerbaijan is one of the largest investors in Georgia's transit infrastructure. Georgia is also investing significant resources in developing transit routes. Currently, the state is constructing the Anaklia port, which will be one of the most important infrastructure facilities along this route," he said.
Shakarishvili said the development of transport infrastructure would increase the international importance of not only Azerbaijan and Georgia but the entire region.
"We are working together with Azerbaijan to ensure that the routes forming the Middle Corridor are safe and fast, and that they receive investment and are developed. This should bring economic prosperity to our countries while also increasing our importance globally and providing greater security," he added.
