TRIPP Project: Yerevan commits to simplify transit to Nakhchivan

Armenia, within the framework of the TRIPP project, has committed to providing a simplified transit regime for people, vehicles, and goods traveling between the main territory of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in both directions, as stated in the joint declaration by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on the TRIPP project, published on the US State Department website.

The State Department noted that one of the key purposes of the "Trump Route" (TRIPP) is to ensure transport connectivity between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan AR. The document emphasizes that TRIPP aims to create an unhindered multimodal transit route through Armenian territory, promoting regional peace, stability, and integration based on respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of states.

"While connecting the main part of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and creating a vital link in the TransCaspian Trade Route, it is expected to generate reciprocal benefits for international and intrastate connectivity for the Republic of Armenia," the declaration reads.

According to the agreements reached between Rubio and Mirzoyan, official Yerevan is required to fulfill a number of obligations under the TRIPP project. Specifically, Armenia commits to provide full cooperation and support to TRIPP Development Company, establish effective coordination between government agencies, facilitate timely issuance of permits and regulatory procedures, maintain open contacts with partners in the United States, and work toward normalizing the regional situation to fully realize the project's potential.

The document separately emphasizes Armenia's commitment to develop differentiated procedures for the movement of people, vehicles, and goods, including between the main part of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan AR in both directions, in accordance with Armenian national legislation and international standards.
