The transformations taking place in the South Caucasus mark the dawn of a new era for Europe as well, Report informs, citing statements by Director of the LINKS Europe Foundation Dennis Sammut at a roundtable organized by the Center for Analysis of International Relations and Multiculturalism and the LINKS Europe Foundation in Baku.
"Azerbaijan has regained control over the Karabakh region, and achieving peace with Armenia is becoming increasingly real. This is a new era for Azerbaijan and Armenia, for the entire South Caucasus. However, and I want to emphasize this particularly, these changes also open a new epoch for Europe," he stated.
Sammut noted that the event dedicated to relations between Europe and Azerbaijan is taking place at an opportune moment and holds great significance.
He emphasized that this event symbolizes the launch of a renewed, more strategically aligned, and purpose-driven relationship between Azerbaijan and Europe.
"We are ready for these new relations," he emphasized.
Sammut also noted that he first visited Azerbaijan in 1996. According to him, 30 years ago, the country was different, and the Karabakh issue dominated not only the political agenda but also the public consciousness of the people for many years.
