Türkiye is expanding "smart agriculture," Tolgahan Bahtiyar, head of a department at Türkiye's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, said during a panel session held as part of Baku Climate Action Week 2026.
Report quotes him as saying Türkiye has focused on data-driven models and strengthening farmers' capacity.
"Since climate adaptation depends entirely on the speed and quality of baseline data, we collect satellite imagery, weather data, soil data and farmers' records. In this way, we are trying to reduce the impact before disasters occur," Bahtiyar said.
Bahtiyar added that artificial intelligence is being used to monitor crops, assess drought conditions and detect diseases.
