Sachs: Middle Corridor to bring mutual benefits to Georgia, Europe and China

The Middle Corridor project will develop successfully, and Georgia will be one of the countries that will benefit significantly from it, Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, said on the Imedi LIVE program, Report informs.

He stated that the center of the global economy is gradually shifting toward Asia, and in this context, Georgia's location on the Middle Corridor route creates significant advantages for the country.

"The Middle Corridor will work. This project will bring mutual benefits to Georgia, Europe, and China. I love the Middle Corridor - it's one of my favorite ideas, and right now I'm literally traveling along the Middle Corridor," Sachs noted.

The professor said that from June 14 to July 26, he and his friends are traveling in an electric car, starting in Rome. He has already traveled through Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Türkiye, and Georgia, before continuing on through Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan toward China.

According to Sachs, this route is a modern continuation of the historical Silk Road and has strategic importance as a transport corridor connecting East and West.
