Russia bans import of quarantine-regulated goods from Armenia

Russia, starting from June 12, 2026, is restricting the import of all quarantine-regulated products originating from and shipped out of Armenia, as well as transit through Russia to the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Report informs referring to Rosselkhoznadzor (The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision).

The agency noted that the ban will remain in effect until a specific algorithm is developed to ensure the safety and traceability of shipped goods.

"The decision was made due to systematic detections of quarantine pests. The Service has been gradually, starting from May of this year, restricting the import of certain types of Armenian quarantine-regulated products, and has repeatedly sent information to the Armenian side regarding supply violations. However, detections of quarantine pests continue. In June, 3 cases of khapra beetle contamination were identified in nuts, dried peaches, and dried tomatoes arriving from Armenia," Rosselkhoznadzor stated.

Since May 22, Russia has restricted imports of flowers from Armenia, and since May 23 - alcoholic products from several leading Armenian companies. Since May 30, a ban has been imposed on the import of tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries.

Since June 2, Rosselkhoznadzor has suspended the import from Armenia of sour cherries, sweet cherries, plums, peaches, nectarines, and grapes. Shipments of live fish and fish products have fallen under similar restrictions.
