Putin's approval rating falls to 66%, poll shows

Russian President Vladimir Putin's approval rating has fallen to 66%, according to the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation, Kommersant reported.

The survey showed that Putin's approval rating decreased by 5 percentage points over the course of one week.

The decline in trust toward the president was smaller, with 67% of Russians saying they trust Putin, down 2 percentage points compared with the previous week.

Approval of the government's performance also declined to 41%, a decrease of 4 percentage points. Trust in Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin fell to 49%, down 3 percentage points.

Among the most notable events of the past week, respondents most frequently mentioned developments related to Russia's military operations in Ukraine (32%). The second most commonly cited issue was fuel shortages, mentioned by 19% of respondents.
