Putin: BAM's capacity triples in last 12 years

The transmission capacity of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) has increased 3 times in the last 12 years and continues to increase, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the ceremony of presenting state awards on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of BAM, Report informs.
Putin noted that in the next 10 years, the volume of transportation through the Eastern landfill, which connects BAM and the Trans-Siberian railway, should reach the level of 270 million tons per year:
"This year, the third stage of the development of BAM and the Trans-Siberian railway begins."
