Peskov notes importance of Putin-Trump contacts for Ukrainian settlement

Contacts between Russian and US Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, are extremely important in the context of the Ukrainian settlement, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, Report informs via Russian media.

"Of course, contacts between Presidents Putin and Trump are extremely important in the context of the Ukrainian settlement. Of course, we agree with this thesis. This significance is difficult to overestimate," he said, commenting on the words of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said that the meeting between Putin and Trump is the only chance for a Ukrainian settlement.

"A summit must be prepared and it must be productive. A summit is preceded by expert negotiations, consultations, long-term intensive preparation, especially if we are talking about a summit of the presidents of Russia and the US," Peskov said.
