A US delegation is set to arrive in Armenia in the coming days as part of the implementation of the "Trump Route" project, a 42-kilometer segment of the Zangazur Corridor that passes through Armenian territory.
According to Report, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said in an interview with Armenpress, that the agreement to establish the corridor was reached in Washington during a trilateral summit involving the leaders of Armenia, the United States, and Azerbaijan.
"Representatives from the American side will arrive, conduct on-site assessments, and we will move into the practical implementation phase," Papoyan said.
He added that a Turkish delegation, led by Serdar Kilich, Türkiye"s special representative in the Armenia-Türkiye normalization process, is also expected to visit.
"Residents of Meghri and Kapan witness daily how mountains are reshaped and the new North-South road is taking shape," the minister noted.
Papoyan emphasized that opening these transport links will provide Armenia with much-needed "economic lungs."
"Besides being landlocked, 75% of Armenia"s land borders remain closed," he pointed out.
Various analyses are underway to estimate Armenia"s potential economic growth following the country"s reintegration into regional transit routes. According to Papoyan, studies suggest that prices for many imported goods in Armenia could drop significantly. "There are essential goods that Armenia must import, and they remain expensive domestically due to logistical challenges," he explained.
