The mayor of the Armenian capital Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, has been sacked.
Report informs, citing Sputnik Armenia, that the decision was made by the Yerevan Council of Elders.
As a result of the vote in the council, Hrachya Sargsyan was elected acting mayor of the capital. Until now, he worked as the first deputy mayor.
Earlier, Marutyan made scandalous statements in his farewell speech. He spoke in particular about calls from "above", provocations by members of the Council of Elders, criticized the purchase of a new car by Vice President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan and many other problems in the city administration. The head of the "My Step" faction Armen Galjyan called his speech a political claim.
