Lavrov to head Russian delegation at UN General Assembly in September

The Russian delegation to the 78th session of the UN General Assembly will be headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Report informs citing local media that President Vladimir Putin approved his candidacy as part of the delegation.

The president also included in the delegation Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin, Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky.

The opening of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly will take place on September 5, 2023. Dennis Francis, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, was elected Chairman of the session. He said he would pay particular attention to "peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability."
