Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has reaffirmed his country's foreign policy priorities, saying Tbilisi has no intention of replacing the United States with China.
According to Report's Georgian bureau, speaking during his annual address to parliament, Kobakhidze said Georgia is ready to restore its strategic partnership with Washington "from scratch" and is awaiting a response from the US.
Kobakhidze stressed that cooperation with China is not viewed as an alternative to relations with other countries.
He described China as an important partner for Georgia, noting that despite the significant disparity in the size of their economies, Beijing treats Tbilisi as an equal partner.
The prime minister added that Georgia attaches particular importance to cooperation with China, pointing out that several European Union countries have also established strategic partnerships with Beijing.
Commenting on ties with Washington, Kobakhidze said the strategic partnership had stalled during the previous US administration, adding that Georgia remains committed to restoring those relations.
"We are extending our hand and waiting for a response from the United States. We are optimistic about restoring our strategic partnership," he said.
