Japarov: I don't allow my grandchildren to use smartphones

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has said that he does not allow his grandchildren to use smartphones and encouraged other parents to follow suit.

According to Report, citing Kyrgyz media, Japarov made the remarks during a meeting with residents of the Jumgal district.

He noted that while schools teach children about the country's history, traditions, and customs, many youngsters today spend much of their time on their phones.

"I don't allow my grandchildren to use smartphones. Instead, I encourage family members to spend time with them, play with them, and talk to them. Many parents simply want some quiet time and hand phones to their children to keep them occupied. Sometimes, no one even talks to them at home.

When we came back from school, we would sit down for tea with our parents. They talked to us, shared their experiences, and told us stories. The issue of smartphone addiction is not unique to our country. Together, we can help by teaching our children about our history, traditions, and customs," Japarov said.
