The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it attacked and stopped three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz after the vessels allegedly ignored its warnings and continued along what it described as an "unsafe and illegal route."
According to a statement published by Iran's Tasnim news agency, the IRGC Navy said it continues to maintain full control over the strategically important waterway.
The statement claimed the three tankers failed to comply with instructions despite repeated warnings, prompting Iranian forces to attack and halt the vessels.
The IRGC also warned that what it described as unlawful interference by the US military in regional maritime operations, including its orders and restrictions imposed on ships, "will not go unanswered."
