Iran says talks with US cannot resume until Washington meets obligations

The resumption of Washington-Tehran talks is not possible until the US fulfills its obligations toward Iran under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and pays compensation for damage caused during the attacks, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, Report informs via Tasnim.

Araghchi made the remarks in an interview with local media.

"Mediators are still looking for ways to resume the talks," the Iranian foreign minister added.

Currently, the main negotiations concern the Strait of Hormuz and are being held between Iran and Oman. On August 8, Araghchi said Iran and Oman were close to an agreement on a new shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz.

US Vice President JD Vance said on Fox News that the Iranian government does not plan to charge the US for the Strait of Hormuz.
