The Strait of Hormuz is open to merchant shipping, but there may be technical restrictions due to mines, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said in an interview with NTV channel during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Report informs.
"There is no uncertainty for us on this issue. I cannot speak for the opposing side, whose policy may be designed to confuse everyone. The Strait of Hormuz is open to merchant shipping. Of course, this applies to the period after the ceasefire. There may be a number of technical restrictions due to mines and security issues," he said.
Khatibzadeh noted that there is no blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Military Command "Khatam al-Anbiya," announced that the Iranian Armed Forces had restored military control over the Strait of Hormuz.
