Iran has reduced the amount of natural gas transported to Iraq by ten times, Report mentions, citing the Iranian media.
Iran transported 50 million cubic meters of natural gas a year to Iraq. After that, its volume was reduced to 5 million cubic meters. The reason for Iran's move is that Iraq owes the Islamic Republic $ 6 billion for natural gas.
Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian left for the Iraqi capital Baghdad on December 29. He will meet with the Prime Minister of the neighboring country Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
Despite the sanctions, the United States has repeatedly allowed Iraq to import natural gas from Iran.
