Hulusi Akar: Türkiye continues efforts to get rid of scourge of terrorism

Türkiye is striving to get rid of the scourge of terrorism as soon as possible, to ensure the security of the country, the borders, and the citizens, and to bring peace and stability to the region, Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defense of Türkiye, said in a statement to journalists after a four-lateral discussion with his counterparts from Russia, Iran, and Syria in Moscow on Tuesday, Report informs via Aksam.

According to him, work will continue in this direction: “I got acquainted with the positions of our interlocutors. We also shared our thoughts. As we have always said, we expressed our respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria. We stressed that the only reason for our presence in Syria is to fight ISIS, PKK/YPG/PYD and other terrorist organizations there.”

Akar said that the issue of the safe return of Syrian refugees to their country was also discussed during the meeting: “I also had various opportunities for bilateral meetings. These discussions were efficient and productive. We agreed that contacts are needed for peace and stability in the region. We will not make a decision that will create problems for our Syrian brothers. This is not up for debate. Everyone should know this and act accordingly. From the very beginning, our position on this issue has been concrete.”
