There are many problems in the Russian army, and the lack of manpower is one of them, William Burns, director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, said this in an interview with CBS, Report informs via UNIAN.
William Burns says even if Russian President Vladimir Putin can mobilize 300,000 soldiers, this does not mean they will be thrown to the front as cannon fodder.
According to him, one of the problems is that most of the mobilized will not be well trained and will not be equipped with the necessary military weapons. They need material and technical support. Putin's military has many problems, and manpower is only one of them.
Commenting on the Russian President's nuclear threats, Burns said that now it is hard to tell whether it is a bluff or not.
US intelligence has found no practical evidence of preparations for the use of nuclear weapons, he added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced military mobilization in connection with the war in Ukraine. He said in one of his recent speeches that they can use nuclear weapons and that “this is not a bluff.”
