Ghalibaf says Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran's control

The United States is trying to facilitate the passage of several vessels through the Strait of Hormuz but is facing resistance from the Iranian armed forces, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said, Report informs via ISNA.

"The enemy's recent strikes on our country are due to our exercise of power in the Strait of Hormuz, and we delivered a crushing response to this attack," he said, adding that the strait is under Iran's control.

According to Ghalibaf, the United States wants to use the southern route through the Strait of Hormuz in violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

"But we will not allow this," he said.

Ghalibaf added that Iran's exercise of control over the strait does not contradict international law.
