Georgian PM: Higher education at state universities to be free

Higher education at state universities will be free, and specific mechanisms have been established to ensure students do not lose their motivation," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters.

According to the PM, if a student fails to pass two disciplines a semester, it means that he/she is not involved in the learning process.

"Explicit statements were made regarding free higher education. For the first time in Georgia, higher education at state universities will be free, and specific mechanisms have been established to ensure students do not lose their motivation.

If a student fails to pass two disciplines per semester, it means that he/she is not involved in the learning process. The student will face a reduction of funding starting the third semester. All this aims to boost motivation among students," he said.
