Georgian Dream Party comments on reports of PM's resignation

Irakli Garibashvili has no reason to resign, Gia Volski, Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament and one of the leaders of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, has said.

"Garibashvili is an effective prime minister. He ensured peace in Georgia during the most challenging period. If Garibashvili intends to resign, we must not let him go," he stressed.

Another member of the ruling party, MP Henri Okhanashvili, also commented on the reports of the prime minister's resignation:

"There is virtually no basis for Irakli Karseladze's premiership or Irakli Garibashvili's resignation from the post of prime minister."

Georgia's Pirveli TV channel has reported today that the Prime Minister is expected to resign. He will step down after the second round of local elections and will be replaced by the current Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze.
