The Anaklia Deep Sea Port will be developed under the widely used Landlord model, Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili stated during a briefing, according to Report's Georgia bureau.
She said Georgia welcomes investment in the Anaklia port from countries participating in the Middle Corridor route, including Azerbaijan.
The minister explained that the Georgian government has decided to build the Anaklia Deep Sea Port based on the globally applied Landlord model. Under this framework, the state will remain the owner of the main maritime and port infrastructure, ensuring its development and management.
Kvrivishvili noted that the Landlord model allows Anaklia port to be developed not with a single state but in partnership with several countries and companies simultaneously. This will attract more cargo flow and ensure efficient operations.
She emphasized that the government's main goal is to turn Anaklia into a regional hub for international interests, capital, and cargo traffic, taking into account the participation and interests of partner countries.
The minister added that alongside port infrastructure, the state will also provide road and rail connections to Anaklia. Investments required for the construction of container and bulk cargo terminals will be made by international investors and private operators.
Kvrivishvili further stated this decision will strengthen Georgia's national interests, create new economic opportunities, and contribute to the country becoming one of the key participants in the Middle Corridor project.
