Georgia sees Central Asia cooperation as key to trade, connectivity

Georgia's expanding cooperation with Central Asian countries is based on mutual interests and creates opportunities for developing trade, economic ties and regional connectivity, Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said on a local TV program, Report's Georgian bureau informs.

According to her, developing relations with Asian countries does not mean choosing one partner at the expense of others.

"Given the current geopolitical situation, focusing on only one partner would be a major mistake for Georgia. The country's strategic goals require developing partnerships in all directions where we have interests," Bochorishvili said.

She stressed that Georgia's geographic location and the growing role of the Middle Corridor create opportunities for international economic cooperation, strengthening the country's position as a regional transport and logistics hub.

"It is enough to look at the map to understand how important a role Georgia plays for various regions. In the complex geopolitical situation around us, the development of the Middle Corridor and the strengthening of ties between partners are of particular importance," the foreign minister said.
