Georgia hopes to get status of candidate for EU membership by 2030

Georgian authorities plan to apply for the EU membership by 2024 and get a status of a candidate country in the organization, Georgian Vice PM and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani told the Imedi TV channel after presenting the 10-year plan of the country's foreign policy development, Report informs, citing TASS.
"We have an ambitious plan to apply for EU membership officially in 2024. But it will be the first step, followed by effective steps until 2030 for us to get a candidate status. We must also achieve the goal of launching talks with the European Union, including harmonizing the legislative basis," the Georgian Foreign Minister said.
