Georgia detains Azerbaijani citizen wanted under Interpol red notice

An Azerbaijani citizen wanted internationally under an Interpol Red Notice has been arrested in Georgia.

According to Report's Georgian bureau, citing the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man was detained by officers of the Patrol Police Department at the request of Azerbaijani law enforcement authorities.

The man is accused of hooliganism and intentional damage to property belonging to another person.

He was detained during operational search measures at the Sarpi customs checkpoint on the Georgian-Turkish border.

Procedures required by law for his extradition are currently underway.
