Georgia allows some Azerbaijani trucks to cross border

Some Azerbaijani trucks that had been waiting for an extended period at customs checkpoints in Georgia have been granted permission to continue their journey. They are already returning to Azerbaijan.

According to Report's local bureau, other trucks are awaiting the completion of customs procedures. The issue is expected to be resolved in the near future.

Earlier, a group of Azerbaijani truck drivers said that while transiting through Georgia, they had to wait for several days and, in some cases, weeks at various customs checkpoints. According to the drivers, they did not receive timely official explanations for the delays.

In connection with the situation, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia sent an inquiry to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 5.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry said the embassy's appeal was immediately forwarded to the relevant state agencies, which are taking measures in accordance with the law.

The Revenue Service of Georgia's Ministry of Finance also said an investigation was underway. At the same time, the agency noted that the movement of cargo through all border checkpoints was proceeding without hindrance.

Following the Azerbaijani Embassy's appeal, the situation was reviewed jointly with the relevant Georgian state authorities.
