Farhad Mammadov: Peace Bridge enables direct dialogue between civil societies of Baku and Yerevan

The key feature of the Peace Bridge initiative is that representatives of civil society from Azerbaijan and Armenia are able to communicate directly, without intermediaries, Farhad Mammadov, curator of the Peace Bridge initiative and director of the Center for South Caucasus Studies, said at a press conference following a meeting between civil society representatives of the two countries.

Report's correspondent in Gabala quoted Mammadov as saying this was the fourth meeting between civil society representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

"This initiative started last year with five people, and today already 20 participants from each side have joined it," said Mammadov.

"Today, for two hours, Hikmat Hajiyev answered questions from representatives of Armenian society. Previously, meetings between NGOs aimed at establishing peace were also held, but they were usually conducted with the involvement of intermediaries," added the director of the center.
