Armenia's ex-minister arrested at airport upon arrival from Moscow

Armenia's former minister of transport and communication and former mayor of Yerevan Gagik Beglaryan was arrested by police on May 17 at the Yerevan airport upon his arrival on board a plane from Moscow, Report informs, citing Sputnik Armenia.
Beglaryan was on the wanted list on charges of embezzlement and abuse of power since March 2020.
He was transferred into the custody of the national security service, police said.
Beglaryan has been a member of the Republican Party led by former President Serzh Sargsyan since 2006. He was the mayor of Yerevan in 2009-2010 and the Minister of Transport and Communications in 2012-2016.
