Armenia's Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure has signed a memorandum of understanding with the European Commission and the European Investment Bank to provide advisory support for the construction of roads leading to border checkpoints on the Armenian-Turkish border, Minister Davit Khudatyan said on social media.
According to Report, at the initial stage, the EIB will provide Armenia with advisory assistance to determine the scope of the required studies and develop solutions for the proposed road projects.
According to the minister, the initiative includes support for the preparation of the strategic road routes Akhurik–Kayan (212 km from the Azerbaijani border to the Turkish border) and Margara–Kayan (258 km from the Azerbaijani border to the Turkish border), which will connect border crossing points to Armenia's road network.
"The projects are being implemented within the framework of the Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace initiative and are aimed at promoting regional transport connectivity, strengthening Armenia's role as a reliable transport and logistics hub, and advancing the EU's connectivity agenda," the minister said.
The document was signed in Brussels and officially launches advisory support under the EPIC (Eastern Partnership Investment in Connectivity) initiative.
