The European Union is discussing with the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan how Brussels can support the development of transport routes in the South Caucasus, according to EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Magdalena Grono.
"The progress toward building sustainable peace in the region is incredibly impressive. As the European Union, we are committed to being strong partners for Armenia as well as Azerbaijan to help ensure that this peace becomes a lasting reality that benefits all people," Grono noted during a briefing in Yerevan, Report informs via Armenian media.
She noted that Brussels supports the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process through various mechanisms, adding that regional connectivity remains a key priority for the EU.
"We are discussing with the Armenian authorities, and of course with our Azerbaijani partners, how best to support the development of transport routes so that all countries are involved, all communities along these routes benefit, and we make a significant contribution to the EU's priority Middle Corridor project, which connects Asia and Europe via the South Caucasus," Grono said.
