EU congratulates Pashinyan on his election victory, declaring support for reforms in Armenia

EU Council President Antonio Costa has congratulated Armenia's current Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his party's victory in the parliamentary elections, noting that the EU will continue to cooperate with the country in energy, trade, and digitalization, Report informs.

"Our strong partnership is an investment in a more peaceful and prosperous future for the region as a whole," Costa wrote on X.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas also congratulated Pashinyan.

Before an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Nicosia, Cyprus, she told reporters that the election results in Armenia demonstrate the country's citizens' support for rapprochement with Europe, despite pressure from Russia.

According to Kallas, the European Union will continue to support Armenia, including in implementing reforms related to its further development and rapprochement with European institutions.

The Central Election Commission of Armenia noted that Pashinyan's Civil Contract party received 49.825% of the votes cast in the parliamentary elections, with 100% of the votes counted.
