CSTO responds to Armenia's inquiry regarding border tension

The Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) commented on the escalation of the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, Report informs.

“In the early hours of September 13, 2022, there were clashes with the use of heavy weapons and UAVs on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. As a result, some people died, and some were injured.

We consider the use of force unacceptable. To resolve the contradictions, the sides should use exclusively political and diplomatic methods and agreements, enshrined in the statements of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia dated November 09, 2020, January 11, and November 26, 2021.

We appreciate the mediation efforts of the Russian Federation in achieving a ceasefire on the contact line from 09:00 am on September 13, 2022.

In connection with the appeal of the Armenian side to the Collective Security Council of the CSTO for assistance to the Republic of Armenia, the Secretariat of the Organization together with the Joint Headquarters of the CSTO organized work on activating the mechanisms of the CSTO to settle the situation,” the CSTO said in a statement.
