Crime rate increases in Armenia

The total number of crimes in Armenia in the first nine months of 2021 increased by 6.1%, Armenian Deputy Police Chief Ara Fidanyan said during the discussion of the state budget for 2022 in the parliamentary commission on November 1.
According to him, 19,662 incidents were committed in January-September of 2020, and 20,863 incidents in the same period of 2021.
The deputy noted that the number of cases of fraud, theft, and violations of traffic rules has increased: "Of these, 711 are corruption, 161 are bribery, 66 are an abuse of office, 93 are fraud, 211 are an abuse of authority, and 51 are exceeding official powers."
