Azerbaijan, UNESCO discuss cultural cooperation in Paris

Azerbaijani Culture Minister Adil Karimli has met with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany in Paris.

The Culture Ministry told Report that this was El-Enany's first meeting with Azerbaijan's Culture Minister after his election as UNESCO Director-General.

The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO, as well as issues related to the protection of cultural heritage, the promotion of intangible cultural heritage, intercultural dialogue and international humanitarian cooperation.

Karimli congratulated El-Enany on his election as UNESCO Director-General and wished him success in his work. He stressed that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to its partnership with UNESCO and spoke about the country's contribution to promoting the organization's goals and principles.

Karimli also provided information about Azerbaijan's initiatives to protect cultural diversity, pass cultural heritage on to future generations and develop global dialogue.

He expressed confidence that UNESCO's activities would be further strengthened under its new leadership and voiced hope that new reforms would be implemented and the organization's ability to respond more flexibly to global challenges would be expanded.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, implementing joint projects on the UNESCO platform and developing ties in the field of culture.

The sides highly appreciated the existing potential for the future development of Azerbaijan-UNESCO cooperation.
