An autonomous solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles has been launched in Astana, Report's Kazakhstan bureau informs, citing the country's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
The facility is the first of its kind in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according to its developers.
The station is located on the grounds of the Alatau sports complex and operates on an off-grid basis, independently of the city's electricity network.
The project was developed by Kazakhstan's BOLASHAQ POWER LLC.
The complex includes a 100-kilowatt solar generation system and energy storage units with a total capacity of 645 kilowatt-hours.
The facility also complies with the criteria of Kazakhstan's Green Taxonomy.
