Honored Cultural Worker of Armenia, head of the "Karin" ensemble Gagik Ginosyan has been banned from entering Georgia, Report informs, citing Armenpress.
Ginosyan wanted to visit his mother's grave in the Akhalkalaki district of Georgia, but was turned back. He said Georgian border officials cited the coronavirus pandemic as the reason.
Ginosyan took part in the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenian separatists during the First Karabakh War.
The city of Akhalkalaki in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia is densely populated by Armenians. Armenian separatists, from time to time, claim to separate the area from Georgia.
Ginosyan is one of the Armenian intellectuals who support separatism.
The Armenian media also indirectly linked the refusal to allow him to Georgia with his activities. Armenian reporters claim that the current government in Tbilisi is pursuing a pro-Turkish policy, which is why the head of the Karin ensemble was not allowed to enter Georgia.
