Armenian authorities considering two candidates for post of ambassador to US

The Armenian authorities are considering two candidates for the post of ambassador to the US due to the fact that the current head of the diplomatic mission, Lilit Makunts, has only a few months left before her term expires, according to Armenian media citing sources in the ruling Civil Contract party, Report informs.

According to the source, the candidates under discussion are MP Arsen Torosyan and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan.

Torosyan has been accompanying Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his foreign visits.

As for Mkrtchyan, who is also responsible for the ruling party's foreign relations, he has traveled to the United States many times in recent years, participated in various forums, and attended the inauguration of American leader Donald Trump.
