Araghchi says Lebanon ceasefire is key condition in US-Iran memorandum

Iran wants the war in Lebanon to end, and this is one of the key conditions in the final memorandum expected to be signed with the United States, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during phone calls with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
Report informs that, according to Araghchi, Iran emphasized Washington's responsibility for the proper implementation of the memorandum's provisions and the need for Israel's attacks on Lebanon to stop completely.
During the phone calls, Lebanese officials were informed about the details of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, particularly the provisions concerning Lebanon.
The Lebanese officials welcomed the provisions of the latest memorandum, stressing that Lebanon's stability and security were an integral part of any serious efforts to ensure stability in the region. They also expressed gratitude for the inclusion of the issue of ending the war against Lebanon in the text of the memorandum.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has also said that the agreement between Iran and the United States should cover Lebanon.
