Ankara University Rector: Azerbaijan healed years of wounds in short time

Azerbaijan has succeeded in healing the wounds of many years in a remarkably short period, Necdet Unuvar, Rector of Ankara University and a participant in the 4th International Conference within the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons, told Report's correspondent in Khojaly.

He expressed particular satisfaction that Karabakh, including Khojaly, had regained its freedom after many years.

"We are in Khojaly, a place we long imagined in our dreams, visiting locations where the souls of our martyrs live on. For many years, I chaired the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. During that period, we commemorated February 26 and the victims of the Khojaly genocide every year with deep sorrow," he said.

Unuvar also highly praised the reconstruction efforts in Karabakh.

"Five years ago, I traveled from Baku to Shusha by car in six and a half hours to attend the signing ceremony of the Shusha Declaration. Today, we flew to Fuzuli and then traveled by car to Khojaly. The transformation achieved in such a short time amazed me. I witnessed that Azerbaijan has managed to heal the wounds of many years in a short period. This makes us very happy," he added.
