"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is ready for direct talks with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin," Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk said in his interview with Handelsblatt newspaper.
According to him, although Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to hold direct talks with Vladimir Putin, Moscow rejects the hand extended by Kyiv.
Melnyk said that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz should personally request the restoration of the "Normandy format" (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine) on Donbas. He called on the German government and opposition to reconsider supplying defence weapons to Ukraine.
