Alen Simonyan praises his meeting with Sahiba Gafarova in Türkiye

Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan has praised his meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Sahiba Gafarova in Istanbul on Friday, noting the absence of disagreements between the two sides, Report informs.

"The meeting (with Sahiba Gafarova - ed.) went well. We had no disagreements. You may be surprised, but there are no disagreements. There is mutual understanding, cooperation, and plans for future cooperation. We didn't encounter any stumbling blocks during our discussions, and I hope there won't be any," Simonyan told the Azerbaijani TV channel Real TV.

Responding to a question about improving trade and economic relations between Baku and Yerevan, Simonyan noted the need to develop mutual trade.

"I've been saying this for a long time: we should trade. I think we need to expand this cooperation. As far as I know, entrepreneurs, governments, and relevant agencies are already working in this direction, and that's very good. This work should be continued and deepened in the interests of both countries," he added.

Simonyan also praised the reciprocal visits between civil society representatives from the two countries.

The meeting between Gafarova and Simonyan took place on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.
