Mirzozoda Nizom: Tajikistan betting on digitalization of construction industry

Tajikistan intends to continue implementing the New Urban Agenda, focusing on digitalization of the construction industry, sustainable development, and improving the quality of the urban environment, Mirzozoda Nizom, chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Construction of Tajikistan, said at a ministerial roundtable during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

Report quotes him as saying the country's authorities view the New Urban Agenda as one of the key instruments for shaping modern public policy in urban development.

The representative of Tajikistan noted that significant transformations have taken place in the construction industry since independence, accompanied by large-scale housing construction and infrastructure development.

"Thanks to the policies of the leader of the nation, Emomali Rahmon, the country has implemented large-scale transformations that have become symbols of national development," he stated.

Among the key achievements, Nizom highlighted the construction of over 300 million square meters of housing since independence.

He also noted that master plans for 65 cities and districts have been completed in Tajikistan. Particular attention, he said, is being paid to the digital modernization of the construction industry and the implementation of modern technologies.

"Digital transformation and the implementation of modern technologies are priorities of state policy," Nizom emphasized.

In conclusion, he stated that the republic intends to consistently continue implementing the provisions of the New Urban Agenda in close collaboration with international partners and relevant organizations.
